a little glimpse of all the foam models I made

using just saws and sanders, I made the e and two others made the h and the y.

then cane the big project: hard core foam core. the assignment was to make an exosuit capable of underwater transport that performed some sort of rescue mission.

so 7 of us began planning. we only had a week, so we got planning right away.

we started building day 2, using the only 2 things we were allowed to use: duck tape and foam core.

and since it was underwater, of course you have to have a seahorse.

and yes, we had to sing a song and perform with our suit. more to come later but here is stage one of my homemade costume.

completed! this was about 4am when this photo was taken.

night of the performance, us all running around trying top get everything together.

I needed to be in prime condition for the performance, and since I didn't have time to work out, I needed a little help from makeup.

yeah, we came in second. first losers, no big deal.

our next assignment was to make a lamp using a lathe and vacuum forming. so I needed to learn how to use a lathe.

if you haven't vacuum formed before, it is literally one of the coolest things ever. like ever ever.

router cutting my halves of my lamp off of the wooden molds I created.

once that was done, I glued the two halves together. since the seam was not perfect, I made a new best friend: bondo, which fixes everything.

then came the sanding. and the sanding.

and the sanding. until you could not feel any seam at all.

now it was time to paint. so I fashioned up a stand to hold up my work.

then one coat

and let that one dry.

then 4 more, and drying in between. then after hours and hours...

it is finished!

our next assignment was to recreate an object from real life as perfectly as we could using all the tools and skills we had learned.

using Eva is amazing.

and our last and final project was we had to create a part and resin cast is. so I made a top and a stand.
