Appalachian Pine Mixer
As part of a ten-week design class, we all collaborated to create an experience for hikers on the Appalachian Trail. The best part about this class was to research, we lived a week in the shoes of the hikers, hiking 50 miles ourselves along the trail to learn about the “Trail Magic” everyone performs to help each other along. We then came back and designed an experience for the people and went back and gave it to them. Watch the video below to see everything we did and check out some of the process photos of our journey to create this magical experience.

This is us camping night two. We camped for four nights, enabling us to understand at least a little bit of what the hikers experience on their often six month odyssey from Georgia to Maine. Truly understanding your user is the key to all things UX.
This was a collective of people who traveled the world living from donations from people with excess. They taught us about giving and providing for those in need just because you can. They gave us hot tea and mini avocado sandwiches (which were incredible).
Something I was responsible for was designing and creating the placemats for the dinner we provided. I decided to think a little outside the box, so I designed them using Rhino and then laser cut/engraved them. You can see them here :)
Everything is in place! Couldn’t even imagine a more perfect location for dinner, much less a surprise dinner in the middle of an epic journey.
